Annual Solicitation

The Pollard Memorial Library Foundation (PMLF) is celebrating its founding, almost 30 years ago, as a volunteer community-based organization. Since 1994, the Foundation has been enhancing public awareness and financial support of the Pollard Memorial Library through fundraising, advocacy, and dedication. This history is notable for the significant contributions made by a broad base of support.  Your donation has an impact!

Below are some of our featured projects your contribution helped to make possible in 2023:

(1) Elinor Lipman Writing Award which honors a Lowell-based writer for a work of fiction or creative non-fiction.

(2) The Curious Creatures event (interactive and educational live animal program) - the kickoff for the children's summer reading program.

(3) Notable book purchases - titles that celebrate some of the many cultures in Lowell, including 30 copies of Legends of Little Canada (the 2023 Lowell Reads selection) and copies of A Long Long Time Ago in Southeast Asia - Tales from Burma, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

(4) Donations made to honor a friend or family member - used to purchase books "in memory of" that individual.

(5) Authors presented for the Young Adult audience - Alder Van Otterloo, Deke Moulton, and Adam Sass, Andrew Joseph White, HE Edgmon, and Terry Benton-Walker.

(6) Author Valerie J. Frey, who wrote Preserving Family Recipes - to complement Lowell Reads.

(7) The purchase of Assistive Listening Devices - for programs and Library events.

(8) This month's "family event wreath decorating" - in celebration of Lowell City of Lights.

Your contributions will ensure that the Pollard Memorial Library remains a center of open-minded thought, where all people of all backgrounds become informed, involved, and engaged.
